Neighborhood Adventure #2

So yesterday morning we went on an adventure we’ve been meaning to go on for a couple of weeks: to the organic farmer’s market across the street!  It’s held every Wednesday and Saturday morning, and it seems like the place where everyone who lives around here buys their produce.  We can actually see it from our apartment (it’s at the farm that all of our windows look out on, although none of the food sold is actually grown there).  Not only did we buy a whole bunch of fruit and veggies, but we found these donuts with green sauce (it’s sweet, but not any kind of flavor I can put my finger on, and I have no idea why it’s green) that we had only ever found wayyyyyy on the other side of town before!  For approximately $9 US we bought: a big bunch of little bananas, a whole lot of organic purple rice, cilantro, some of the most delicious tomatoes I’ve ever had, three little limes, a coconut (which was split open for us to drink out the water/eat the coconut goodness), donuts and green sauce, a curry potato fried empanada sort of thing, a bunch of mint, a bag of these fruit/flower looking things that we’re pretty sure you steep and make into tea, green onions, and a jackfruit.  Oh, the jackfruit.  Make sure to watch the video in the next post  about the jackfruit.
